Planning questions

Remodeling calculator FAQs

How much extra material should I allow for waste?

The right allowance depends on the material, room shape, pattern, cuts, and installer. This calculator starts with editable allowances of 10% for tile, flooring, and drywall, 15% for backsplash, and 5% for paint. Confirm the final amount for your project before buying.

How do I calculate an irregular room?

Divide the room into rectangles, calculate each section separately, and add the recommended material amounts together. Complex patterns, stairs, curves, and unusually narrow cuts may require additional material.

Does this calculator include labor and installation costs?

No. The optional cost estimate covers material packages only, using the price you enter. It does not include labor, taxes, tools, preparation, disposal, pickup, or delivery.

Can I use the result to shop BobNJob listings?

Yes. Use the recommended quantity as a planning guide, then compare it with the quantities and measurements shown on available Metro Atlanta BobNJob listings.
